Just a reminder, since this is the shopping season and a lot of us are purchasing online:
If you see a space for a coupon code when you’re checking out of an online store you often can find a code just by doing a Google search.
The other day I saved over $40 when I was buying art on Art.com (an amazing store and website, by the way) when by just Googling ‘art.com coupon codes’ I found one for 20% off of my order.
FYI, the coupon code I used was 84P20 (expires 12/31/08), and the page I got it from which has other codes is here: http://www.momsview.com/art.shtml.
Winter’s here, and the ‘Chains Required’ notices are starting to flash in the passes.
Do you sometimes wonder if that means you or not? I drive an SUV and always drive by those signs about 92% sure that I’m OK – but not completely.
I finally looked up the winter tire chain requirements for Washington state, and because my SUV weighs less than 10,000 lbs I actually am OK, as long as my tires meet certain requirements. Phew!
If you’d like to check what’s necessary for your car, here’s the link to winter tire chain requirements in Washington state.

Yes, this is primarily a real estate and Seattle area topic blog, but as a card-carrying member of the Washington Kayak Club I thought the whitewater kayakers who ran a 300 foot dam spillway in Wales was too good to pass up!
The video’s worth watching - click the link to go to the BBC news story and check out the video – the first one down catches enormous air at the bottom. And doesn’t flip! As someone who has spent her fair share of time upside down in a whitewater kayak I can tell you that’s amazing.
