The weekly active listing count for the greater Seattle housing market shows that the supply of homes available for sale is down sharply compared to a year ago. Here’s how the housing numbers compare for King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties for the week ending February 06, 2012:
Seattle Area Active Home Listings - Week Ending 02/06/12
Active residential and condominium listings (not including "Contingent" or any "Pending" statuses). Data taken from the NWMLS and Windermere but not verified.| County | Total Active Listings | Weekly Change | 52-Week Change | 52-Week % Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| King | 7395 | (- 163) | (- 3014) | (- 29%) |
| Snohomish | 3138 | (- 25) | (- 1595) | (- 34%) |
| Pierce | 4228 | (-36) | (- 1071) | (- 20%) |
Pending sales were up 13.7 percent year-to-year in January 2012 for the entire Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) area, according to the most recent numbers released. It’s worth noting that the snowstorm in January put a lot of real estate activity on hold for around five days, and pending sales number would probably have been higher otherwise.
